Jaeger Chronometric instruments
The chronometric speedometers and rev counters made by Jaeger in the 1920's and 30's are magnificent high quality instruments.
On the right you see a typical example of an early Paris made 80mm. speedometer in KpH, and a later model British made 125mm. speedometer in MpH.

These instruments are used in a wide variety of motor cars from the era. Because of the complex design of the clockwork mechanism however, they need specialist care and attention to keep them functioning perfectly.
After all, you do not want a malfunctioning speedo or revcounter in your beautifully restored vehicle.

A common problem with early instruments is the fact that the bracket on which the internal mechanisms are mounted, deteriorates or simply desintegrates completely.
Historic Engineering has solved this problem by reproducing a unique and accurate copy of the original bracket in CNC machined aluminium.

All instruments are thoroughly cleaned, repaired as necessary and re-assembled on a new bracket.

After reconditioning all instruments are comprehensively tested and accurate speed indication confirmed by comparison with precise digital measurements.
We have completed successful restorations of instruments for Bugatti, Minerva, Vauxhall, Riley, Lagonda, Bentley, etc.
Current developments:
Historic Engineering Services is proud to announce that we now have all the necessary tools and parts to make 100% accurate reproductions of the largest of all Jaeger instruments, the 150 mm. (or 6”) units.
These instruments were fitted to several types of (fast!) cars from the late 20’s and 30’s.

The reproduction instruments are built using original Jaeger internal mechanisms, being the chronometric clockwork, odometer rolls and drive shaft. These are fully reconditioned, and mounted on a new aluminium bracket.
Both the speedometer and rev counter can be custom made in either French or English versions.
French; 200 KpH and 6000 tours par minute
English; 120 MpH and 6000 revolutions per minute
Other types can be made on request, please do not hesitate to send us any specific enquiries.

The actual housing is a perfect copy of the rare original item, in spun aluminium. The brass rim is nickel plated, as it should be.
The black dial faces are screen printed, to obtain a perfect and long lasting result, using original designs.
